RAD Pro System Radiation Therapy Vault

Exterior Dimensions
The footprint of the basic unit is 40 ft x 32 ft (12.192 meters x 9.7536 meters).
The total height of the unit is 19 ft 7 in. (5.969 meters).

Exterior Design and Finish
The exterior has an EIFS finish; a high-performance, polystyrene-reinforced, polymer concrete that creates an airtight and waterproof outsulation. The exterior wall finish is available in basic colors and designs. Options are available to satisfy custom architectural aesthetic requirements.

Weight
The maximum weight of the PRO System shielded for a high-energy accelerator, with the accelerator installed, approximates 2,000,000 lbs (907,184 kilos).

Pad Specifications
Pad specifications are site specific per a geotechnical site review and according to local code regulatory requirements.

Interior Dimensions
Treatment Room: 23 ft x 23 ft (7.010 meters x 7.010 meters)
Optional Control Area: Available upon request.

Interior Design and Finish
All interiors include the following finishes: flooring, wall coverings, drop ceilings, lighting, electrical, telephone and computer outlets.

Standard Equipment Components

  • Color Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) system with two cameras
  • Two-way patient monitoring intercom system
  • Four LAP patient positioning lasers:
    • Two sidewall lasers at isocenter height
    • One sagittal laser
    • One ceiling laser
  • Radiation “Beam On” and “Ready” safety signs
  • Emergency “Off” switches
  • Fire suppression system for the treatment room
  • Room storage casework
  • Control equipment casework if optional control area is selected
  • Shielded, motorized vault room door with interlock switches
  • Closed-loop cooling system
  • Heating and air conditioning with neutral balanced air
  • Telephone and computer wiring

Radiation Shielding
The shielding is designed to exceed all federal and state requirements for photon energies up to 25 MV (as defined by The British Journal of Radiology Supplement No. 17 (1983)) and electron energies up to 21 MeV.

The shielding design is premised on the linear accelerator being used at the rate of 50,000 monitor units of 25 MV photons per week, with one monitor unit delivering one centi-Gray at isocenter with full build-up. Radiation leakage in non-controlled areas will not exceed 20 µSv per week (per NCR Report 91). Neutron leakage calculations follow guidelines of NCR Report 79. The shielding has been designed to accommodate the extended workloads associated with conformal and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy.

Electrical Requirements
Determined in accordance with site specificsite-specific requirements and additional equipment manufacturer specifications. (Refer to manufacturer’s IDP)

Accelerator Coolant System
One independent, closed-loop system designed specifically to cool accelerators; to circulate a clean coolant at a constant temperature, pressure and flow.

HVAC System
One chiller chosen for the climatic conditions, complete with associated pumps to maintain air circulation efficiency as well as provide positive air pressure in the treatment and control rooms.
